Bahamian Grammy views on Gays - Wed Jun 01

Had to go into the city -- downtown on business. I parked in the underground parking lot under the Congress Center. I had my appointment and then came out. I strolled along the canal. Then I saw marquis tents. I saw crowds gathering. There was some sort of bash going on.

I went up and caught a glimpse of two gay guys getting married. People in the crowd looked awfully familiar. The funny part was that a radio station from California set up a tent too -- I think it was called Mauler 83.9. Then a black couple came near the barricade that I was standing. I recognised them. They were the Amazing Race couple -- the winners. Then I realised why everyone looked familiar -- they were television personalities.

A woman standing next to me said "Did Rob and Amber make it?" As it turns out, the two gay guys on the Amazing Race were flown up here to get married by the radio station Mauler FM, from California, because they weren't allowed to get married in California. Everybody who was anybody in the gay scene from North America was there.

The television news cameras were there. I heard a tourism official say that the publicity alone of this reality show couple's marriage will generate millions and millions of dollars for the city of Ottawa, Canada.

I came home and told Mum about it. She muttered something about an abomination before God, and went outside to set out water for the goats.
