Beautiful Brettina & her T-Connection
Hi you guys..sorry this took awhile! Again I'm honored and appreciate this site for taking the time to feature me and my music. I love the site and how it keeps me in the know of what's going on in my country and with my people.

I've been living here in L.A. for almost five years now and although music has been my first love, acting has always been in the blood. Ever since I was a little girl all i've known is entertainment. I had no choice!:) My uncles are The T-Connection (Theophelus and Kirkwood Coakley) and my mother is Leona Coakley - Spring.

Natural Beauty shines thru
Acting bought her to Chicago, she performed at local Playhouses there and was a major hit with the critics. She then sent for her kids from Nassau and we lived in Chicago for ten years. While in Chicago I performed at local talent shows and in the theatre. I also did national commercials there for polaroid and Sesame Street.

BAHAMAS LIFE + HIGH SCHOOL
Image Later my mom realized she wanted her kids (me Greg and Shane) to experience and know our Bahamian roots so we moved back home. This was a major cultural shock for us comming out of a public school system where structure and education was not a priority, to a more structured ..Religious based system in Nassau. I attended C.I.Gibson and had a shaky start assimilating into my new environment. I got in alot of trouble my first few months of school, not knowing the rules but I learned very quickly with the help of Mr. Johnson's stick. Later I won Miss C.I.Gibson and was on to Miss Bahamas Talented Teen where I won that as well. It was quite an experience for a young girl who was still trying to figure out her heritage and perform the duties of a queen. After my reign our family decided to move back to the US where I could continue to pursue my dreams.

BACK TO THE U.S. - LIFE IN SEATTLE AND LA
Image We moved to Seattle Washington and just as I began to learn structure and my hearitage in the Bahamas I had to relearn public school. It was very hard for me because now I sounded like a true Bahamian and didn't really fit in here in the U.S. I went on to the University of Washington and studied Cross Cultural-Communications with a minor in Arts. Years had went by and I hadn't made it back home! I lost my accent and I felt the only thing I had left of my country was a trophy and my passport. I couldn't sleep one night and at three in the morning I wrote Bahamian Girl. I wanted so bad to be a star but I never fully embaced my heritage like I should have. I cried as I wrote this song "All that life has to offer me I'd trade it all for the love of my country" Since then I try to get home at least every year and my mom and I will continue to do bennefit concerts to help maintain the AIDS camp in Nassau. I'm currently living in L.A. where I'm able to put my talents in front of Casting directors and Music executives...watch this Bahamian fight for her dreams!
