This year’s Red Cross Fair was held on Mar 3 2007 at the Government House grounds (the rear of Government House). After walking around for a few minutes I started to remember why I don’t really come to these events. I thought to myself, why didn’t I come with a girl, or some friends. Maybe it was because I only decided to come at the last minute, or maybe because the ‘girl’ was not answering my text messages. Well too bad I was already there.
After paying the admissions fees at the gate, the entrance was very ‘back yardish’. Some girls standing there trying to ‘bat’ their eyes at me and get me to buy some $2 Red Cross Fair books. Then there was this loud gentleman screaming at me to buy a hot dog! Like WDF, bey you see me wearing this fresh up Lacoste shirt and you want me risk getting Hot Dog stains on it! Talk *h*t aye! Ok, rewind back, I got on the scene round 4pm and things were in lil swing. The Royal Bahamas Police Force Band (say that fast 4 times, damnn, then look at photo attached) was playing some nice old skool music, the scent of fresh flowers, chicken snacks and cotton candy floated through the humid Bahamian breeze.
There was this fine gal in a tight pink halter top standing by one of the cotton candy stalls, so I decided to try ma hand. I didn’t see any ‘lil pickney’ in the near vicinity so it may be safe to assume she’s single.. So I saunter over and act like I’m inspecting the candies. I tried to get near enough that she could pick up the scent of my .. Polo cologne. I got to about 2 feet of her and she caught my eye. You know that kinda look when she notices u noticing her.. she gave me a faint smile and turned. ‘Damn bey’ I thought to myself make ya move!. She was like 23 or so, solid as a rock, and I mean dem white jeans was full to capacity….. Lawd.. Need a breather… So anyways I said Hi sweets, she just smiled at me and didn’t say anything. I was like Oh Shat! She aint interested. A couple seconds later she said “why you call me sweets man, you almost turned me off? “ I was like “my bad, I just was a little taken aback by your beauty.” She beamed! Well hey maybe I’m getting somewhere. Then she said, “well in the future don’t go calling girls Sweets ok.” And she turned and walked off. Damn. I was left there watching her walk off and this lil solid Vendor woman gun tell me, “Das good fer Ya, yall lil boys too fresh.”
See photos of one of the Bahamian Stalls. Anyways hit ya boy up on this blog and post a couple comments so I can feel that yall peeps reading dese.
