Bettering BOL & keeping the chat room full. - 2010/03/20 18:28
- First of all bring back the old BOL userplane chat room. BOL NEEDS an open chat room of its own because most people don’t have the time, nor the desire to leave a long record of their thoughts in the forum. A next thing is most people don’t even check the forum. Like it or not Mr. Admin has already gotten users accustom to userplanes robust chat service so just stick with it if you can. It’s a great chat service.
-Get rid of all other chat room ads and links. They are dividing your audience and sending users away from the site. We could understand you maybe keeping IMVU if they are giving you good ad revenue but we will not use them. With IMVU, no one wants to download some new avatar chat service and their ads are EVERYWHERE on the internet which makes users just hate them for spamming the world to death. If you ask me avatar chat rooms are for people who didn’t have enough physical contact when they were growing up. (Anyone using IMVU chat should stop playing digital doll house, grow up, and get a real f-ing life.) The TRINI chat rooms are not relevant cuz we live in The Bahamas and they are full of bi guys. U R NOT BI, YOU ARE GAY get over it. Island Mix chat is just plain empty.
-Another important thing is don’t ever ever ever ever move the chat room link off of the front page. Just put it there and don’t even change the wording of the link once you’ve set it (period). Trust me on this one; if people knew where you lived they would have come to your house to have some “words” with you when yall moved that link in the past. Lol.
-Stop putting member pictures on the front page scrolling across the screen. It makes folks never want to put a picture in their profile cuz I don’t want everyone and MYSELF to see a picture of my gritsy teeth scrolling across the screen whenever I come here to chat and chill out. I wouldn’t even get into the dreads on there you see posing like they in playgirl magazine or something.
-To substitute for the member pictures scrolling across the screen on the front page just add a “BOL Members” link in the top navigation bar next to or where the “Phonebook” tab is (do users really use that pay to find people service on that “Phonebook” page).
-Set up a radio/music member in the chat room that always has music playing. Even if the music comes from 100jamz, ZNS or whatever that would be good for the chat room. I think at one point there was a member who did a lil radio show, you could call through skype and make music request, whatever happened to them.
-Get rid of all these fake admins who don’t suggest ways to better this site every week or contribute useful information in the forum or in chat that sparks inspirational ideas in you and the users.
-I have a userplane account and had to sign up for a different BOL account, why? If u can allow users to sign up for one account and let that information work for both accounts that would be lovely dread. (if that is possible)
Anyway I have more ideas and can always think up ways to make the site a lil better but this post is getting too long so Im going to wrap it up.
When I visit Alexa.com ( http://www.alexa.com/topsites/countries/BS ) web stats site I want to see BOL in the top 20 visited sites in The Bahamas so don’t give up on the member numbers Mr. Admin cuz yall have a great product here, a magnificent brand and a top shelf domain name.
