The Big JingleBall Fight E-mail
JingleBall Shut Down
Submitted by: Tura

Image Little scruffles and fights breaking out between guests at parties isn't really anything new. In fact a little vibe that erupts because someone in the audience steps on somebody elses Jordans...or a concertgoer who tries to slap some girl's booty in some drunken stupor...or an angry boyfriend who pimpslaps some chick for being caught whining up on another guy, is unfortunately expected behaviour.

But there is something unusual - disturbing even - when the people who are on stage, who are brought in to entertain the crowd, are the ones staging the ruckus!

Case in point - the recent Jingleball which was heavily promoted by a popular radio station, and co-sponsored by several big name companies and some conservative companies of allllll people!

The event which kicked off at 12am on December 24 at Fort Charlotte, began smoothly as Bahamian acts performed first. But smooth sailing came to an abrupt halt later on in the night when a famous rap artist and his volatile entourage hit the stage.

In true gangsta fashion, they were smoking weed on the stage as police officers had to interrupt the performance to tell them that this wasn't acceptable. (To be quite honest though, Ross wasn't the only performer smoking).

That's really where the story begins to flow into all type of other directions, all depending on who's telling it. Some people might tell you that the fight started when the rapper's crew member threw some guy off the stage and into the crowd. Then others will tell you that Ross himself went into the crowd and started punching some poor defenseless guy. But from my reliable sources, it didn't go down quite like that.

Image What had happened was - a crew member became so perturbed that Rick Ross' microphone and sound kept cutting in and out, that he jumped off stage (maybe in some crazy marijuana high) and got into a verbal altercation with the soundman.

The soundman's crew obviously wasn't having some gangsta looking American all up in their faces, so an all out brawl ensued. There are some reports that a few spectators got involved in the scuffle, but those who we've spoken to can't corroborate those claims.

Image In any event, that was when the police came along like the 'friends' that they are and valiantly attempted to break up the fight. (Good timing guys!)

But they did not, however, come to the aid of press photographers who were left to fend for themselves as the angry crowd of concert organisers, Ross' gangsta' friends and the soundman' crew tried to force them to erase photos from the cameras. (Talk about trying to cover your tracks.)

As you might imagine, the popular radio station has yet to release a statement on the matter. And it's not at all surprising since they must be quite embarrassed that their stellar event was shut down by RBPF (that's the Royal Bahamas Police Force for those of you who might not know.)

I guess, the next time you go to a concert you might not want to be in the front row.

Seeing as how there are so many versions to this JingleBall tale, I'm interested in hearing other versions as well. So don't be afraid to add a comment.
